Hi, I'm Mahlon.
I'm a maker, chronic idea-haver, professional rabbit-hole-follower, and the person behind Mahlon Made.
I've always been the kind of person who sees something and thinks, I could make that. Or I could make that differently. Or, perhaps most dangerously, you know what would be cool...
Mahlon Made is what happened when I finally stopped trying to make all of those ideas fit neatly into one box.
So, what exactly is Mahlon Made?
Honestly? It depends what day you ask me.
It's a creative studio built around making things I think are good, interesting, useful, beautiful, weird, fun—or some combination of the above.
Right now, that means small-batch candles through Lume + Soul, one-of-a-kind goods, creative projects, limited drops, pop-ups and experiences.
There will be more. Probably a lot more. I have absolutely no commitment to staying in one lane, and that's very much intentional.
Life can't be all work and no play.
I'm also a mom with kids, work, laundry, calendars, grocery lists and approximately 900 things requiring my attention at any given moment.
I love my life. I also still have my own taste, interests, ideas and things I want to try.
Those things aren't opposites.
And somewhere along the way, that became a pretty important part of what Mahlon Made is about.
Not reinventing yourself. Not finding some mythical version of yourself you supposedly lost. And definitely not turning everything into a self-care ritual.
Just making a little more room for the parts of life that aren't strictly necessary.
Going somewhere. Making something. Wearing something ridiculous and awesome. Trying the thing.
Sometimes “because I like it” is a perfectly good reason.
That's what we're doing here.
I'm going to keep making things, trying things, following ideas probably farther than necessary, and sharing the good ones here.
You can come along for whatever part sounds fun.
